We have a large number of young Brits inscribed for the main draw here (including the mysterious young Najia)
In the qualis, there's Paul Jubb, fresh from his recent first trip abroad with the LTA to Scandinavia, where he made the final in Norway, before losing to Jack Draper.
Paul qualified to join the large contingent of Brits in the main draw:
Boys R1 (L32)
Macsen Sisam (NZL) v Karim Najia
Aaron Schmid (SUI) v (7) Will Davies
(4) Will Tyler v Eleftherios Neos (CYP)
Mirgiiaz Mirdzhaliev (KGZ) v (Q) Paul Jubb
(6) Aidan McHugh v (WC) Mubarak Alsulaiti (QAT)
Fahad Al Janahi (UAE) v Ewen Lumsden
(8) Damian Rodriguez v Peter August Anker (NOR)
Ksawery Pociej (POL) v (7) Will Davies
(Q) Paul Jubb v Matthew Johnson (RSA)
(6) Aidan McHugh v (Q) Riccardo Di Nocera (ITA)
Ewen Lumsden v James Roelofse (RSA)
(8) Damian Rodriguez v Kaloyan Dimitrov (BUL)
I'm very pleased for Damian, who took out quasi-Brit and second seed, Abdel-Aziz in two sets. I saw Damian play a month ago and thought he had a very good game - one of the more interesting and promising of our youngsters (not quite all in place yet, and quite tall so a little ungainly at times, but some really good stuff there).
A very good result for Aidan too, who is one of the LTA's faves, and up with the Smith clan in Glasgow, I believe.
