What was Andy's 17th best result at the start of the week (because it's 18ths been replaced by IW)? I would hazard a guess that Murrya would have to at least make it to the Quarters to make any gains.

By the looks of the running rankings predictions, even an SF or better could only yield a ranking rise of one or two places, which would not be enough for a miami seeding (the only reason i thought he should play).

14 points at Granby, I think. So yes, quarters to gain 5 points.  On the other hand, it is considered a good "warm-up" for Miami because of similar conditions and surface. I suppose he may as well practice there as elsewhere?

Looks like it all starts tomorrow evening our time (GMT).

How about making this (the hotest topic for next few days, VERY sticky!  And Telegraph/Time stuff not very sticky as it's archive stuff? (Sorry, Drew!)

Effective communication really isn't helped with too much stickness! (IMHO) Lets have the hotest stuff at the top!!!!!?????

More cushions ordered for delivery tomorrow!

Assuming that Miami doesn't really strat until the last half of the week, without Sunrise he'd go nearly 2 weeks without a game. Even if he does well at Sunrise he should have at least 4-5 days rest before playing.

Also - Mardy Fish into IW 3rd round, what's that all about ? Andy absolutely murdered him a few weeks ago ????

Easy draw plus the fact that he's getting back to form after injury.

As have absolutely shedloads of others . . .

So the only interest we have now in this tournament is for the - very few - of "Andy's competitors" who will still be playing there. As far as I can see this is only Tursunov, Seppi, and Martin.

That gives us time to lay in a new stock of cushions, tranquilisers etc

Yep, just got an email from the Tournament Director to say Andy has pulled out citing a hip injury. I'm not sure he was going to go anyway, but maybe he hurt it when he fell against Davydenko?
