Good win for Alexis given both the nature of the match, having to recover from the disappointment of losing the second set from a winning position (he served for the match at 5-4), and an opponent ranked several hundred places above him ATP and having won his last (junior) tournament.
Just doubles QFs tomorrow, along with the matches to determine their singles QF opponents. Potentially Ryan is likely to play top seed Jurabek Karimov, whose run to the Australian Open final took him to JWR12 - he is also inside 800 ATP
The quarter-final opponents are set, with the matches being first and second on court 1 (7am GMT start). Alexis's opponent lost narrowly in last week's final to Ovcharov, who Alexis squeezed past
QF
(1) Jurabek Karimov (UZB) v (9) Ryan James Storrie
(6) Alexis Canter v (3) Lev Kazakov (RUS)
Alexis enjoys a trek to distant lands doesn't he? Costa Rica, India, Ukraine, Tunisia, now Russia. When I was his age I'd barely even made it as far as France...

He's legging it down to Thailand next week, I think.
Don't really agree with the strategy (expense aside). He has obviously got some short-term goals. And good luck to him. But short-term is all they can be.
Ryan was 5-2 up in the second (having lost the first 2-6). The Russian held, and Ryan served for the set at 5-3, but got broken and it's now back on serve *4-5,
Add: And then broke back just at the key moment
1 set-all.
Allez, young Storrie !
