Boys & Girls: Tunisia ITF Juniors Tournament, hard - Grade 2 (Week 5)

Alexis Canter is again seeded three - albeit on a different continent this week - as he seeks another G2 final. However last week's Tunisian G2 winner Javier Barranco Cosano (beating Max Stewart en route) is a potential quarter-final opponent

Boys R1 (L64)

(3) Alexis Canter bye

(15) Max Stewart bye

Girls R1 (L64)

Clarissa Gai (ITA) v Donia Abdel-Aziz

Yes, I recall someone noted recently that Alexis does get around rather.

So far this year : Costa Rica, India, Ukraine, Tunisia

Close in the end but Donia exits - her brother hovers into view as an opponent though.

(15) Max Stewart v Kevin Cheruiyot

Girls R1 (L64)

Clarissa Gai (ITA) d. Donia Abdel-Aziz 6-0 4-6 6-4

Donia has had a torrid time recently. I saw her beat Nell Miller comfortably at Liverpool 12 months ago, but Donia seems to have gone backwards and Nell the other way.

Misfortune for Donia's brother easing Alexis's passage. Max takes on the second seed, who won a G2 in September and is ATP ranked.

(15) Max Stewart d. Kevin Cheruiyot 6-4 7-5

R3

(3) Alexis Canter v Ignasi De Rueda De Genover (ESP)
(15) Max Stewart v (2) Bojan Jankulovski (MKD)

Frustrating for Max - close to a good win, but straightforward for Alexis, who as anticipated faces last week's winner

(2) Bojan Jankulovski (MKD) d. (15) Max Stewart 2-6 6-4 7-6(3)

QF

(3) Alexis Canter v (6) Javier Barranco Cosano (ESP)

Two more wins for Alexis !

That's him through to the semis in the singles, and the finals in the doubles.

I make that means Alexis will be up to a minimum of JWR 70, or so, next week.

He's not down for a junior tournament next week, but is entered at Sunderland. Possible main draw wildcard if he wants to play there as he probably won't make qualifiers.

Snap smile

That's just what I put a minute ago on the thread for next week.

Got to be a reasonable possibility of a wildcard. Although may be a bit tired, especially if he plays through to Sunday.

His semi is against his doubles partner, JWR13 (and just outside the ATP top 1000) after reaching the 4th round of the Australian Open

No luck for Alexis, neither in singles not doubles.

Maybe he'll now leg it back, super quick?
