If it weren't for the snow this would just be three hours away for me...

I don't know why Alexis is in such a frenzy to try and find points, any which way.

Or I probably do know, as I guess it is for the obvious reasons, but it seems a short-sighted strategy.

Wish him luck here, though - it's been an OK start to the year but not brilliant.

Another nice win for Alexis, beating the 7th seed 6-1 6-4

With 50 guaranteed points for a G2 semi (which is net + 30 for Alexis), that should take him back into the top 100, to JWR 92 or so.

His semifinal opponent doesn't appear to have an outstanding record, so it looks to be a good opportunity for Alexis to make a maiden G2 final

SF

(3) Alexis Canter v (6) Vladyslav Lobak (UKR)

Semifinal

Alexis CANTER (GBR) [3] def. Vladyslav LOBAK (UKR) [6] 6-1 6-4

As DavidC says, this will be Alexis' first G2 final - so all the best, young man !!!!

(Will probably take Alexis to a new CH in juniors too, about JWR 80, I reckon).

The final against the top seed is an entirely different proposition. Jurij Rodionov has reached the final of his last 4 G2 or G1 tournaments and is 14-0 so far this year, not dropping a set here.

Final

(1) Jurij Rodionov (AUT) v (3) Alexis Canter

Well, in that case, Alexis should be very pleased and proud of making it a tough battle, taking it to two tie-breaks:

Bad luck, Alexis, but great week !
