By winning two live rubbers in the 2015 Davis Cup final, Andy takes the lead in the race to London.

Not according to the official ATP page today.confuse

Does Davis cup final actually count towards 2016 ATP Finals??

There is however one GB player in top 8 - Kyle at no. 7 following his S American success.

I'd noticed that too but given that the rule about qualification starts "The top seven (7) players in the Emirates ATP Rankings as of the Monday after the last ATP World Tour tournament of the calendar year;", the Davis Cup final points must count - they don't come off the rankings early after Paris like the previous year's WTF points do.

Yes, Fed and Stan's Davis Cup Final 2014 points were included in this year's race.

I think it is very confusing: DC final points count towards the year-end entry ranking, don't they? But they count towards the next year's Race - as it is a race to the WTF and that is over by the time the DC final is played.

I see that Andy has finally been added to the race for his Davis Cup Final points.

However it is 'just' his direct 150 points for winning two live final matches that are there so he lies second. He did actually accrue a further 125 points as a 'performance bonus' for winning 8 live world group matches.

I guess the 125 points is basically a whole of 2015 campaign award rather than all being achieved after the 2015 tour finals. I wonder when the 125 points drop off ( ie. if and when Andy misses / loses any Davis Cup matches or when? )

I see that this week the ATP has now additionally added Andy's Davis Cup "perfomance bonus" of 125 points to his race total.

So in instalments, while playing no ranking tournaments, he has gone from 0 to 150 to 275 points and now leads the race

And presumably, as the ATP are now counting them all to the race, he does then indeed retain these full 275 points until the Davis Cup Final anniversary.

So he should. It would be rather ridiculous if they only counted for a couple of weeks!

Horror, Andy will drop back to number 2 in the race, behind Roberto Bautista Agut, the Auckland winner ( 295 points to 275 )

Just need to get back to number one post the Aussie Open
