Just finished watching todays match on catch-up, in instalments. . . I was impressed by Andy today. He didn't get down on himself when things weren't going his way - well, not much anyway. He didn't let frustrations carry over to the next point. He looked purposeful throughout. I really hope he carries that demeanour forward to tomorrow. C'mon, Andy, beat the flash - er, beat the Czech gentleman.
The balance of the head-to-head swings back in Andy's favour:
QF: (3) Andy Murray WR 2 defeated (5) Tomas Berdych (CZE) WR 5 by 1 & 3
*****
SF: (1) Novak Djokovic WR 1 vs (3) Andy Murray WR 2
It would be lovely to see Andy get the NoDjo monkey off his back again (head-to-head a whopping great 9-19), though Andy get the better of him arguably when it mattered most: the semi-final of the 2012 Olympic tournament on his way to winning the gold medal, the final of that year's US Open &, most memorably, the Wimbledon final in 2013.
Andy did beat Novak in Canada before the US Open so hopefully the pendulum is swinging in his direction again, certainly he is looking like a man on a mission this week so fingers and everything else crossed for the right result tomorrow.
Just finished watching - I had to stop the stream to dash off to a pharmacy for pills for my husband. That was really good - I don't think I have seen him play so well since he demolished Andy Roddick some years ago at Queens. I really hope he can keep it up against Djoker.
There are some players that I especially like Andy to beat, and Berdbrain is one of them. I thought Berdy actually played pretty well, apart from trying too hard and thereby committing unforced errors!
