Nice comfortable win, we should be beating Argentina pretty easily and we did exactly that.

Katie has now won 9 singles matches in a row in Madrid.

We play our final match today against Brazil in the 9th-10th play-off match, starting at 11am BST Canada lost narrowly to the Czech Republic (including Marketa Vondrousova) so the title decider tomorrow is between the Czech Republic and the USA

Good stuff.

I may have personally queried Ali playing both matches on day one with Katie sitting out the doubles if that was putting development ahead of winning here, but it is good to see Ali getting these further chances and wins.

Once they were out of the overall running, performance and development does increase in interest to me too.

Bit disappointing overall not to have at least been in the 5th to 8th play-offs, but at least hopefully kept going for 9th.

Unfortunately Katie had to retire against the Brazilian number 1 Pedretti after losing the first set 6-3. Having only 1 fit player left, we had to concede the doubles so finish 10th.

And Ali's had her issues this week before being the last girl standing disbelief

Hopefully all three will be fighting fit asap.

A shame Katie had to retire to complete a week of injury problems. Hopefully just precautionary as it was only a 9/10th tie which would have been nice to win but not at the risk of a more serious injury to Katie.
