RE: Girls: US Open Junior Tennis Championship, Hard - Grade A (week 36)

Bad luck to get an injury in the first round of the US Open. The fact she took what must have been a medical timeout at 0-15 in a game suggests something that happened during that point, but that's more of a guess than anything.

The fact that it would appear that they stopped and then restarted for a bit, if connected, kind of indicates nothing really serious. Hopefully not.

Real pity

Yes, suggestive of say a fall rather than illness

Hope she recovers quickly.

Ms Arbuthnott now on vs Ms Neel. Ms Neel was one half of the team that went to R2 of the women's doubles ... and took a set off a seeded team. Will not be easy.

Heat related apparently, sounds like she was struggling quite badly cry

Unfortunate scenes as top GB junior Katie Swan, in some distress from the heat, being helped off court after retiring.

Sorry to hear that (it's supposedly a brute of a day) ... but at least it's better than injuries. All the best to her for her recovery.

Oh dear.

I read Fed not being sympathetic about the number of seniors retiring because of the heat, but certainly sounds as if there was no continuing here.

She'll no doubt ( I hope) pretty quickly recover, but its the US Open ..

Ms Arbuthnott lost the second 6-3, but is ahead by a break (3-1) in the 3rd.

And a random factoid: a few courts over A Neffa de los Rios is playing ... who is Rossana de los Rios' daughter. Rossana de los Rios last played the US Open in 2010 ... this must be the shortest time on record between a parent and child appearing in the same tournament ... even if one's the junior edition!
