It's looking a bit grim at the moment for Mr Murray. Now down a break in the 3rd at *0-1 having list the first 2 sets 6-7 3-6
Worrying times for Andy fans
Very poor indeed. Seemed intent on handing Anderson control of the rallies. Medium paced first serves that got smashed for clean winners. Just a horrible performance from Murray, so many careless errors, especially at key moments. Anderson played well at times but he gave Murray enough chances. The whole approach was far too passive for me.
I suppose it is too late to suggest that Andy needs a new 2nd serve as the current one is so vulnerable.

Didn't see the match, but pretty much following the scores it was rather playing repeatedly with fire to go two sets down and survive one tiebreak to save the match to then go to another. The last one I think was actually a whitewash.
Well done Kevin Anderson though, seems a good bloke and he's been on form over recent times.
And well done Andy on that now over record of reaching at least the QFs in 18 consecutive Slams in which he played ( 9 before his missed 2013 French Open and 9 after ). It is just over 5 years since he lost in the L32 of the 2010 US Open. That's a run to be very proud of and of course included his two Slam titles to date.
Made last GB singles player standing again in a supposed afternoon match when there was another Brit playing ( and playing so well ! ) in an Ashe night match, but that will be no consolation.
I really think Andy's performances at Wimby and here have been affected by what's coming directly afterwards. With a nightmare draw here, he realistically wasn't going to win here anyway, especially after expending so much energy over the 1st few rounds. Anderson was outstanding and Andy played a solid but rather passive match, he fought right to the end, but never moved into 5th gear which he needed to.
Well, if he had to lose to anyone, Mr Anderson is the player I'd most like to see win, so, from my perspective, that's some consolation. Mr Anderson came so close to beating Djokovic at Wimbledon ... it felt as if he was due at some point ... though I'd have been happier if it had been against someone else!
More seriously with the DC coming up, I'd agree with Philwrig (cf some comments Mr Murray made to journalists) that Mr Murray's mind, for once, is not solely on the slam. Plus after all the brilliant tennis he played post-Wimbledon and the horrid first rounds draw, it's not a huge shocker that he had a bad match against a good player. Sorry to see that QF streak end, though. It was a nice one ... as Indy says, even ended, one to be very proud of. Onwards!

I feel rather than blaming Andy too much for that better to credit Anderson who played better than I've seen him play before...especially those thunderbolt serves to Andy's back hand side which Andy couldn't get much of a handle on. Hey ho :(
As has been said, on the bright side he'll be better rested for the DC :)
I agree Vohor. Anderson played the game of his life and controlled the net. With his height and reach Andy just couldn't get past him. It's ridiculous to criticise Andy for this defeat. He tried his best to get into Anderson's serve but just couldn't get a good return often enough.
