RE: Weeks 35/36 - US Open (Hard) - Andy

Good stuff, Andy.

Yes, I'm very confident about Anderson, I agree that well though Anderson has generally been playing it's a good match up with Andy's anticipation on return and apart from serve well just being a lot better.

I think that that will be taking place on Armstrong with the Federer vs Isner and Wawrinka vs Young matches very probably on Ashe. Be good actually to see the US Davis Cup guys be more inspired on Ashe than they were at the Emirates

Nice and efficient win in just 2 hours 11 minutes; good stuff Andy :D

It would be nice to see Mr Young get stuck into Stan for more than a couple of hours.

Probably not the most amazingly call of all time, but Andy is indeed on Armstrong.

At the moment showing second on, but I suspect that they've still to add a doubles or two somewhere.

Will be 3rd on Armstrong ( first match scheduled 11 am local, 4 pm BST ) after a men's doubles L16 match and Lisicki vs Halep L16 women's match.

Just a shame DY's had such a tough journey through to this round, he may not be able to work Stan as hard as we want.

I always believe that Andy revels on Ashe late at night. He's feeling much better today too, so should be 100% for Anderson, who might pick up a set, but hopefully only 1.

I would be a lot happier about this match if it were Ashe at night, rather than Armstrong in the afternoon. My recollection is that Mr Murray doesn't like Armstrong - though I can't recall why ... something to do with the wind? Or the way that the smaller court makes movement feel more constricted? At any rate, it will be the first time this go on that court for both of them, so that's something at least.

Pity about this match-up, actually, as I'd love to see Anderson get his first QF and would happily cheer for him to do so in most circumstances - just not against Mr Murray.

I think he feels Armstrong is too restricted for space if I remember correctly - and that could be a problem against a huge serve.

I see that as well as reaching the L16/R4 in the singles DY has reached the L16/R3 in the doubles ( plays later today after his singles ) and reached the L16/R2 of the mixed doubles ( lost yesterday ). So he has been playing a fair bit of tennis in his downtime from his long singles matches. Though mixed maybe doesn't greatly count

Bopanna & Mergea have completed a three set win in the doubles on Armstrong ( and will play Dom & Robert in the QF ).

Now Mss Halep and Lisicki, fancy taking up the next 3 hours or so until it's beginning to get a little cooler ?

It did occur to me, looking at the schedule, that it was a good combination of matches before Mr Murray. Certainly didn't think that they were going to be on at 2:00 pm/7:00 pm as the BBC was predicting!

Lisicki and Halep go one set all at 7-6 5-7

Another set, ladies, if you insist ...

I'm glad the match didn't start as early as expected so I could get home from hospital visiting, but I didn't need any more delay, thank you! Get on with it, ladies, please!

Wawrinka beats Young in four, 6-4 1-6 6-3 6-4, to book his QF spot.
