I hope Andy didn't get caught up with following Jo's match !
Knowing the interest Andy takes in other Brits I am not sure that I might not even be being mildly serious, with it going on so very unexpectedly long and finishing shortly before he started.
Edit : Ah broke. C'mon !

Well done Andy for eventually coming through that one. Difficult to say having not actually seen the match on TV but maybe the heat did play a part in the first couple of sets. Whatever happened/changed, the last three sets read 6-1 6-3 6-1, so it looks like Andy got into his groove in the end. Not exactly the traumatic rollercoaster I want to ride in the 2nd round though
Andy does like to dig himself into a deep hole then fight his way out.
Mannarino played very well in the first two sets, he was getting just everything back and his wide serve was really troubling Andy. Not surprisingly though he couldn't keep it up for five sets. Andy seemed flat for those first two sets, then he woke up and started fighting.
The Sky Sports livestream seems to take all my computer's energy - while it's on it takes so long for a forum page to load that I have to leave it and go back to the tennis!
What a strange match. From the second the third set started he was never even close to losing, so it was a lot less of a rollercoaster than the scoreline suggests.
Even when he was 2 sets down, he was the bookie's favourite to win.
I noticed though that it got pretty close with bet365 immediately after Andy lost the second set with Andy just remaining favourite ( which especially with Andy's history, I suspect made a bet then on Andy very attractive to many folk ).
L64: (3) Andy Murray WR 3 beat Adrian Mannarino (FRA) WR 35 ( CH 27 in July ) 5-7 4-6 6-1 6-3 6-1
L32: (3) Andy Murray WR 3 vs (30) Thomaz Bellucci (BRA) WR 30 (CH 21 in July 2010)
H2H 0-1, Bellucci winning on clay 6-4 6-2 in the 2011 Madrid Masters L16.

Andy has what looks like a very straightforward path over the next 2.5 weeks.
US open R3 Bellucci R4 Anderson QF Wawrinka SF Federer F Djokovic then play 3 straight days the following weekend at the DC winning all 3 matches. Would be an epic effort to say the least !!!!
Nothing like a 5 setter in the heat as a preamble ...
( though as I have just read, the match was actually 6 minutes shorter than Jo's earlier epic three setter and as 5 setters go, I guess he was relatively unstessed competitively towards the end )

Andy was sloppy over the first two sets, lacked focus and Mannarino has a consistent tidy game. To beat him even if like Andy your skill set is at a different level you have to execute it. This probably reflected that his first round game because of the publicity around it had induced a level of preparation that he would normally reserve for next week. Mentally he had stepped back but perhaps a bit too far.
Andy wasnt quite there over the first two sets and lost them. A combination of being given a deadline to deliver and superior fitness resulted in Mannarinos capitulation. One of the beauties of GS and 5 set tennis the cream does rise to the top even if there is some initial dodgey pasteurisation (and the Milkman wasn't even playing)

Hmmph. Do think this may be the worst draw he's had in recent years - not so much the back end (those are always going to be difficult) but a really nasty front end + then (unless things change) back end. Don't like it.
From his press conference, it's very obvious that he has a head cold, making breathing more difficult. That no doubt contributed to his problems in the first two sets. http://www.usopen.org/en_US/news/interviews/2015-09-03/an_interview_with_andy_murray_round_2.html
Andy will be on Ashe three matches in a row and in the night session vs Bellucci which he'll probably be happy about.
But from our selfish point of view, well in the UK, it being the second match on after not before 7 pm local, midnight BST, it won't be ideal. First night match is Shelby Rogers vs Simona Halep.
