RE: Weeks 35/36 - US Open (Hard) - Andy

Shock horror Andy Murray in prime form survives worst draw ever (in 4 sets). Kyrigos with even worse draw gets wooped.

Yep, in Happy Land few things are ever bad

As a huge Andy supporter, I'm still very pleased to see that one safely negotiated ( as I still thought it would be, just far from what I would have chosen, and I didn't see anyone here, while some being less than enthusiastic about that draw, actually predict defeat ).

He's looking hot to trot, I'm not expecting too many palpitations until the QF s and then it's game on.

Now I agree

And who knows what fallout there could be elsewhere before the QF stage.

Andy vs Mannarino is third on Ashe today.

Proceedings there begin at 11 am local, 4 pm BST, with Azarenka vs Wickmayer, followed by a second ladies' match, Bondarenko vs Halep.

Halep wins, so Andy third on Ashe will be starting at just about the same time as Aljaz, second on Court 17.

Anyone know what's delayed Aljaz so long ?

Anyway guys get to work, it's Thunderous Thursday !

Andy, not without a struggle, keeps things on serve in the second set at 3-2* with his ace number 11.

C'mon Andy, we're having a party !

*4-4

Not liking that it's so close coming to the business end of the second set.

And even worse given that Mannarino has broken. For those of us without access to the match, what's happening? Carole Bouchard has been suggesting from the 1st set that he didn't seem to be wholly well.

Quite, Indy.

Andy should be able to beat Mannarino with one arm tied behind his back.
