World Athletics Championships

Is it just me(with an athletics connection), but the BBC's TV coverage is still awful.

Very little focus on the field events, too many pundits chit chatting and too many features instead of live athletics

In addition to that I had to turn off when they absolutely tore Katarina Johnson Thompson and Mike Holmes to bits over the heptathlon issues. (bear in mind I know both KJT and Mike as they are based at my club)

Well done to Jess and Mo for winning gold, so far.(Greg might just sneak another)

Didn't see the heptathlon coverage.

I really like KJT, tremendous prospect beyond what she is already. I was gutted for her when she just missed the indoor ( pentathlon ? ) WR earlier in the year. Though after looking a bit stunned and annoyed afterwards, I loved her interview along the lines "my coach told me this was my chance to make history and I err didn't".

But to foul all 3 long jumps is not clever !!

Anyway, big congratulations to Jess on being the    Great comeback

To be fair to KJT, she has been struggling with injuries most of the year. She only started track work at the start of July and if the LJ which was very close had counted she would have been in gold medal position.

The girl is such a talent and will be the first girl to jump 2m in the high jump and long jump 7m

More medals to come for GB as well

Mo - 5000m
Christine - 400m
2 x relays

and possibly a couple of outside chances for Zarnel Hughes, Shara Proctor and Lynsey Sharp

Agree with you on BBC, I've flicked back and forth to Eurosport a lot when they go back to the studio. I do enjoy listening to Michael Johnson though, he seems to talk a lot of sense or at least gives the impression that he does.

Guess Porter must have be in with a chance of a medal too?

Tiffany Porter might make the final, but there are loads of quicker girls who should medal ahead of her.

I'm not a great lover of field events, but yeah the analysis of KJT's performance was overdone. I think Daley T was in particular was a bit over the top.

I think the coverage has been affected by Gabi and crew not being in Beijing, meaning that they're getting analysis from the guys in Beijing and Micheal and co in Salford.

I think Christine is running for bronze, but you never know with her, as she really lifts her game for the majors.

Like to see KJT do something special in the LJ, and hopefully Dina will do something similar in the 200. Don't rule out Ms Child's either, she messed up her semi, and she could easily get 4th/5th.

Also have to say there have been some crazy times by the Kenyans in the 400m hurdles. And a very strange heat in the 400 men's where Rooney broke his PB from nowhere, and 2 others broke 44 seconds. None of those 3 athletes could get anywhere near those times in the semis.

I think Christine is running for silver - I don't think anyone will catch Felix, but with a very quick track she'll be close to the British record

PS it's very hard to run back to back PB's in 400m in consecutive days.

I've been very impressed by Miller, the young Bahamian, looks a massive talent. Not sure how much quicker Christine will go, maybe 49.8 at a guess for me.

Yes. me too. Not convinced by Felix this time round. (which will probably mean she'll walk it . . .)

Funnily enough two minor Kenyans who compete over 400m or hurdles have been caught at the championships and suspended.

Given the Russians have no team of note in Beijing due to suspensions and a cleaning up in the sport in their country, will Kenya be next? There are lots of speculation about corruption, blood doping and EPO within the Kenyan federation and the fact they don't(or didn't) have an independent drug testing facility within the country.

Good call on Felix smile

A bit of a shame for Christine - that semi must have taken it out of her.

I also thought Zarnell would pick up a medal and break the 20s barrier, but not quite yet

Well done to Sophie Hitchon on smashing her own GB record and finishing 4th

As for Dina - if she can keep the form going a medal and a new GB record are looking good.

Expecting a medal and a new GB record in the long jump for one of the British girls, don't ask me which one, they are all capable....

Great to see what appears much more depth than at London 2012.

Super Saturday ( and great to see Mo, Jess and Greg delivering yet again ) slightly hid not a great deal happening after that with the relays particularly disappointing, and remember the athletics head coach walked for GB not meeting his medal prediction

Very encouraging signs for Rio, just a year away.
