RE: World Athletics Championships

Let's hope there is a real doping purge over the 12 months just looking at the physiques of our youngsters you get a feeling that the more rigourously the enforcement the better we will do K J-T and D A-S just look talented.

Where it would really help would be in the throwing events who knows we may even have some success in the hammer with Sophie Hitchon 5ft 7 (74Kg) the best chucker to come out of Burnley since Jimmy Anderson.

Judy Oakes lewishams finest athlete who was 4 inches shorter! had a fine career as a clean athlete, with a level playing field she would be up there in the hall of fame with the elite of British Athletics. As it is she is just the best female British shot putter ever.

Christine and Lynsey didn't run their own races which was very frustrating, I think Christine could have pinched the bronze if she'd done her usual even splits sort of race.

200m Women's is fascinating, fancy Dina will win the bronze as long as she runs her normal race, and probably with a British record, as both Schippers and McKenzie look nailed on to run under 22.

Tiff Porter looks good for a medal after watching the heats.

I agree about the LJ, any one of the three could medal, but I fancy KJT or Shara P to step it up for the final, SP was massively behind the plasticine for all her qualifying jumps.

Be great to see KJT do really well in the long jump ( and then we can add it in to her Heptathon score too )

Wow - what another fantastic day of athletics.

I did call the GB long jump record going, well done to Shara. I really feel for KJT, she was such a confident athlete, this may has knocked her down quite a bit. I expect her to compete a lot next year, prior to the Olympics.

Finally Kathy Cook's record went, but I thought that would be good enough for a medal. Those times were phenomenal, surely Dafne may be in with a chance of breaking Flo-Jo's dodgy world record at some stage. (I didn't realise but two GB records are older, Seb Coe's 800m and Meg Ritchie's discus)
