Great win for Andy after not beating Novak since Wimbledon 2013. Now moves up to WR2 and so will be seeded 2 for US Open.
... if he's still WR 2 after Cincinnati.
Clearly a very good chance since he is 595 ranking points ahead of Fed, net 415 points once you allow for the 180 points he must drop to allow for the compulsory Cincinnati counter.
But Andy and Fed could say meet in the Cincinnati SF ( they are in the same half ) and Fed win that and go on to win the title, and that's 640 additional points for Fed and him back to WR 2.
But the ball is in Andy's court

Correct, Indy, I forgot there is a 1 week gap after Cincinnati, so rankings will have one more update before US Open. Anyway lets hope Andy is the no. 2 seed!
Wasn't expecting this at the start of week, best for me he's played since the clay season, and not tired at all !! Novak wasn't at his best, but when he did pick his game up, especially in the decider, Andy elevated his level, which I don't think he could have managed 6 months ago. What happens going forward I have no idea, Cincy will be tougher with Fed back, so an early exit there, with the US open and DC to come, is a possibility.
