Frustrating that delay, as it makes it almost certain that Mr Murray will have to play two matches on at least one day.

Importantly, Andy shouldn't have to play two singles matches on the same day anytime ( his doubles is not scheduled for today so that will no doubt be for Thursday ).

Plenty R2 matches still to start today and no R3 matches scheduled so R3 to the final will be scheduled daily Thursday to Sunday.

Andy's resumption is scheduled third on Court Central after :

Not before 12.30 pm ( 5.30 BST ) : Nishikori vs Andujar and not before 2.30 pm ( 7.30 BST ) : Nadal vs Stakhovsky.

Certainly looking at the R2 match-ups there were much kinder looking draws than Robredo.

Andy really can't afford a slow start here. His schedule with doubles is now tighter than he'd probably like.

Nice for Rafa to get scheduled second, before Andy's resumed match, and then get to play his R2 doubles match later in the day.

Just to add that the head-to-head is 5-2 in Andy's favour, with Robredo winning their first two encounters (Las Vegas in 2006 by 2 & 2 & the final in Metz the following year by 0-6 6-2 6-3) & Andy the next five (the IW Masters in 2009 by 6-2 3-0 retired, the Madrid Masters the same year by 5 & 1, Wimbledon in 2013 by 2, 4 & 5 - on his way to the title! wink - & the finals in Shenzhen & Valencia last year by 5-7 7-6(9) 7-6(8) & 3-6 7-6(7) 7-6(8) respectively).  I guess the latter two matches would help to explain Madeline's comment... hmm

And of course that doesn't include the HC final, which Andy lost, against all the odds.

Having heard Andy explain what he hasn't been able to do post Wimby/ DC which he would normally be able to do, you do wonder how successful this North American hard court swing will be. DC being the ultimate focus this year.

At last, after a very long game, (you have it, Tommy - no, you have it Andy) Andy breaks back for *4-4

I'll take it. That was a nasty match to get first off.

L32:  (2) Andy Murray WR 3 defeated Tommy Robredo (ESP) WR 22 by 4 & 5

*****

L16:  Gilles Müller (LUX) WR 46 (CH = 34 in February) vs (2) Andy Murray WR 3

The two have met only three times at Tour level, most recently at Queen's this year, & Andy has won all three...

A whole 3 hours thanks but at least tonight I shall be much earlier to bed

Andy won - it was worth watching although tortuous at times
