Girls: Nike Junior International Queenswood, clay - Grade 4 (Week 28)

Despite her efforts in Edinburgh Gemma Heath had to qualify here, and ends up playing the same seed (Camille Verden Anderson) in round 1. Emily Appleton and Megan Davies are the top seeds, while Eliz Maloney is another notable qualifier. Strangely Eliz is unseeded, so it looks like they have done the main draw before qualifying was completed (or messed up as at Roehampton). The main notable R1 result so far seems to be Sophie Drakeford Lewis, who did very well, beating the third seed, 6-0 6-4

Sounds as if Ms Heath's victory over the 6th seed was also quite extraordinary, given that she's now played how many matches over the course of ten days?

Megan Davies, the second seed, was the major casualty.

That's the girl Gemma beat in three sets last week - now it's in two sets this week.

Gemma is certainly on a roll smile

I should think Ms Heath would be exhausted by now - probably good that she gets some time to rest. Impressive run by Ms Adeshina, too.
