Big age difference, though, between Freya and Ali.

I was very impressed by Ali.

Good to know.

Emily - the star doubles player wins again in a tight match against the third seeds PS Emily should have enough points now to make the junior US Open directly, so hopefully we may see her playing a bit on the main tour

A bit of a nightmare for Katie, if she's picked up some sort of stomach injury, beacuse they can be very tricky.
Great to get 3 through to the quarters.

Shame for Katie let's hope it settles down but I am afraid it's all part of what is a pretty tough business. Good to see she was able to reign it in and do enough to win playing a safer game. Fingers crossed for next week. Nice to see Freya and Emily in the QFs. With Ali s performance a really encouraging week.

It looks like we are guaranteed 3 girls into Wimbledon apart from WCs, as Emily is 2nd alt and the only singles players left who may be eligible for SEs if they win tomorrow are Emily and possibly Freya (Freya needs 1 more withdrawal to make qualifying and thus be eligible - they don't usually give SEs for doubles here as qualifying takes place at the same venue)

R3

(WC) Freya Christie d. Olesya Pervushina (RUS) 6-0 6-0
(5) Katie Swan d. Aleksandra Pospelova (RUS) 6-7(6) 6-3 7-6(1)
Emily Arbuthnott d. Rebeka Masarova (SUI) 6-3 4-6 6-1

QF

(1) Marketa Vondrousiva (CZE) v (WC) Freya Christie
Bianca Vanessa Andreescu (CAN) v (5) Katie Swan
Emily Arbuthnott v (3) Dalma Galfi (HUN)
Ingrid Neel (USA) v (2) Shilin Xu (CHN)

Katie wins 6-3, 6-1.

I expect Freya v Vondrousova to be a cracking match. All on serve so far.
