Listening to Greg and Raonic chatting about 150mph serves on Eurosport yesterday. Made me remember the dark days of Wimbledon and tennis when the big servers threatened to make us all switch off. It might not have done Tim any favours slowing the grass courts down but it saved us from boring matches. I know Andy drives us all to distraction at times but he is a wonderful tennis player with a great array of different types of shots. I think we are in a golden era that may not last if the future of tennis is guys hitting the ball as hard as they can every shot. Let's enjoy Andy while we can because who knows what it will be like once he's gone.
The first set and a half were nerve-wracking, nail-biting, cushion-chewing affairs, but after that it was fabulous! Such a refreshing change after the extremely boring Raonic match. (well that got exciting at the end, when Giles Simon put him out!)
A good win, really. I didn't think that it looked in doubt even when a set down but the tail-end of the second set was a bit of a nail-biter. Some good signs from Murray and there's no reason why he can't go on and win the tournament here.
I had to go out when the semi v Troicki was suspended at 3all first set, with VT serving and ad down to Andy when he was injured and then the rain came. Much investigation after I got home reveals the rest of the semi will be played at 11am tomorrow morning, (I think shown on BBC2), and the final not before quarter to three.
