Week 24 - ATP 500 (Queen's) - London, UK - Grass (Andy)

I won't bury this among the British men section, as I expect Andy will be the sole survivor before long. . .

Andy has drawn a qualifier in the first round, followed by Verdasco or Bautista Agut. Dimitrov the seed in the quarters, Cilic or Feli Lopez in the semis.

Hopefully. It would certainly be nice and neat

Qualifiers are Bolelli, Lu, Donaldson and Mathieu.

Please, not Mathieu for Andy! I can't find if the qualifiers have been placed yet, the new ATP site is a nightmare. What a time of the year to mess about with something that wasn't broken! Why didn't they do it in the off-season when they would have had plenty of time to sort out the mess?

Andy is fourth on court today, after Wawrinka/Kyrgios, one set of Dimitrov/Querrey, and Nadal/Dolgopolov. His match is followed by Cilic/Mannarino - and then Andy is due back on to play his doubles! They only got through 3 and a half matches yesterday, with no delays, just long matches - so I think they are being a bit optimistic with that schedule.

Yes, does look extremely optimistic, but I guess that there are no other courts available or other folk that might like to see some good tennis

Wot, no comments on today's match? I have only just found the time to get on here now.

It wasn't a stunning performance from Andy - particularly serve in the first set - he managed to get broken early in both sets, but broke straight back. He was rather in a chuntery mood, but got the job done 6-4 7-5. Verdasco next.

I don't know what is going to happen with his doubles match, it's quarter to eight and the match before could take quite a while still, with Cilic a set up but a break down in the second.

Strange to see Andy and DOm playing doubles together with Andy on the forehand ????

And did Sue Barker just say that Dom Inglot was playing Wimbly doubles with Eduoard R-V ????

They lost, I see. I'm sorry for Dom's sake, but glad for Andy - I feel he needs all his energy for the singles.

7-5 6-4, job done, not brilliant but doesn't need to be, yet. Onwards, v Gilles Muller next.

Good stuff, any further points are now additional to his current ranking points total ( 18th best = 90 )
