Swan and Galfi are scheduled to play doubles later this afternoon.

Maia is playing with Sandra Samir, against the No5 Seeds.

Katie and Dalma cruised the first set 6-0, dropped the second 7-5 and squeaked home 10-8 in the deciding tiebreak

I'm oddly encouraged by Katie's result. Judging by her style of play, and the fact she's a Brit training in the states, I can't imagine clay being a particularly good surface for her.

Here here, from her progress in Eygpt ITFs she strikes me as a quick learner and you have to start somewhere

Good points made. However, clearly a win would have been preferable with particularly in the run up to the French Open that leading to at least one more competitive match against good opposition on clay.

The other issue is that I don't think Katie is down to play anymore competitive tennis on clay until RG. I'm sure Katie would have liked more than one match.

Bianca Turati confirms that she was a terrible draw for Katie, by handing out the first double-bagel of the tournament in R2.

Hopefully Katie and Dalma can hang around in the doubles. That should help Katie find her clay feet.

They're back playing doubles, 1-0 with a hold.

Katie is arguably as much in need of doubles practice as she is of extra matches on clay. Winning this tournament would also take her ahead of several higher ranked girls who are not playing this week.

Win 6-1, 6-3. Katie gets 62.5/4 ranking points, to replace 20/4.

That should move her over 800pts and above Ruse and Bellis. I'm pretty sure with the points on offer that some one or several will go past Katie this week in the rankings

As it relates to seedings for Paris, the rankings are pretty irrelevant - as Katie experienced this week!

Katie+'s doubles is about to start. One of their opponents, Muramatsu, was involved in a singles match today, that with about a four-hour rain delay, lasted about seven hours. A bit unfair on her, perhaps...

All over within the hour, 6-2, 6-1. Dalma+Katie advance to the semis, collect a minimum of 100/4 ranking points, and will play Lapko/Mihalikova fo a place in the final...
