I'm oddly encouraged by Katie's result. Judging by her style of play, and the fact she's a Brit training in the states, I can't imagine clay being a particularly good surface for her.
Good points made. However, clearly a win would have been preferable with particularly in the run up to the French Open that leading to at least one more competitive match against good opposition on clay.
The other issue is that I don't think Katie is down to play anymore competitive tennis on clay until RG. I'm sure Katie would have liked more than one match.
Katie is arguably as much in need of doubles practice as she is of extra matches on clay. Winning this tournament would also take her ahead of several higher ranked girls who are not playing this week.
That should move her over 800pts and above Ruse and Bellis. I'm pretty sure with the points on offer that some one or several will go past Katie this week in the rankings

All over within the hour, 6-2, 6-1. Dalma+Katie advance to the semis, collect a minimum of 100/4 ranking points, and will play Lapko/Mihalikova fo a place in the final...
