Poor chap clearly thought he was through to the Tory membership vote after his surprisingly big MPs' vote yesterday.
Still very early for analysis of the Tory MPs' voting machinations but looks as if he was err lent quite a few votes in the previous round and possibly 2) might even have been so confident of being in the top 2 today that a few of his own true supporters passed their support elsewhere to influence who his final opponent would be.
Anyway, Badenoch vs Jenrick - hmm, a right pair ...

Yes, sounds like that is what happened - and maybe it was therefore misjudged by his supporters in terms of how much genuine support he had.
Hi Indy and other board members based up in Scotland. Whats the feeling there re Alex Salmonds untimely death? It feels like a big name in UK politics has passed and that feels quite sad. Felt he had more to offer.

Not sure he had much left to offer in politics - burnt too many bridges. But undoubtedly over many years he was a huge figure who was the real catalyst for Scotland coming as close as it did to becoming an independent nation. And there is certainly big media coverage here of his life and times.
