Surely Bellis would be a strong candidate for a wildcard for the main event given her performance at the U.S. open but it's unlikely she would go deep so why not play the juniors as well.

The U.S. has a series of clay court challenger tournaments in the lead up to Roland Garros, which the USTA uses to determine their main draw wildcard. Bellis hasn't played any of them (as far as I know), so will not be considered for a wildcard.
Bit short sighted really, do they have a similar set up for the U.S. Open ie did she play in a similar hard court series? Or just come through qualifying ( I suppose I can look that up)

I think Bellis is still restricted to how many WTAs she can play in one year? The US wildcard is decided by competition - whoever gets the most points from 3 US claycourt ITF50?ks, which are on at the moment, and which she ain't in. Its still probably better practice for her eventual seniors career to work on beating up players who aren't as good as her, rather than working on soaking up punishment from the likes of Serena. And titles are titles, and can't be taken away - Bellis as yet hasn't won, or even done particularly well in, any Junior Slam.
There's also several girls lower down the list who aren't going to be seeded, but finished 2014 in the Junior top 10 - a Swiss and 2 Spaniards, and who possibly have better chances than Katie.

IMO the biggest threat outside of the provisional seeds is Kat Stewart. Will she be seeded based on WTA ranking? Same question for Bellis. Will she be moved up the seedlings?
Also, there's Maia. Most of her best results have come on clay (5/6 singles: 4/6 doubles); wouldn't be too amazed if she progresses further than the cygnet here.
No, there's a rather complex system, isn't there? I can't remember it in full, but thought that it took high WTA rankings into account. Something along the lines of if you're over WTA 300 ... DavidC will know, though!
Yes, certainly for the junior slams ( don't know about other tournaments ) there is ( or certainly has been before ) some complex system for allowing for highish WTA rankings in seedings.

It's the same system for all junior ITF events, but those with decent WTA/ATP rankings rarely play outside of the Grand Slams
Rankings of ATP750 or WTA400 are always accepted into main draw
Rankings of ATP751-850 or WTA 401-500 are always accepted into qualifying
Seedings
JWR 1 = <ATP200 / WTA150
JWR2 = ATP251-350 / WTA151-175
JWR3-4 = ATP351-450 / WTA176-200
JWR5-6 = ATP451-500 / WTA 201-225
After this boys and girls are treated differently
Boys
JWR7-12 = ATP501-550
JWR13-18 = ATP551-600
JWR19-24 = ATP601-650
JWR25-30 = ATP651-700
JWR31-35 = ATP701-750
Girls
JWR7-8 = WTA226-250
JWR9-11 = WTA 251-275
JWR12-14 = WTA276-300
JWR15-19 = WTA301-325
JWR20-24 = WTA326-350
JWR25-29 = WTA351-375
JWR30-35 = WTA376-400
Where there are two or more entrants in a draw with JWR / ATP / WTA equivalence, the player entered using JWR will take precedence for seeding.
What chance do you think Jay or Alexsis have of making qualifying as alternates in the late twenties?
apologises for asking: I note the thread is entitled "girls RG" but sadly there seems little point in starting one entitled "boys" as the 1998 cohort have only just scraped the surface of the top 100.

I would say pretty high. Withdrawal deadline is 19 May and 80% of the withdrawals will come on that day although there will be a steady trickle beforehand. Those players just making Qs and for whom RG is a difficult journey will probably decide there are more cost effective returns to be had at lower grade tournaments nearer home. The G2 in Hungary May also be popular as the usual big guns will be at RG.
