Emily Arbuthnott returns to junior action for the first time since the Australian Open and faces a familiar opponent, one who accounted for Fran Jones and Ali Collins in Scandinavian tournaments early in the year. Jonathan Gray has a tough task against a G1 winner last month.
Boys R1 (L32)
Alberto Romila De Avila Senise (ESP) v Jay Clarke
Jonathan Gray v (3) Alvaro Lopez San Martin (ESP)
Girls R1 (L32)
(Q) Sandra Ortevall (SWE) v (7) Emily Arbuthnott
Ema Lazic v (3) Charlotte Robillard-Millette (CAN)
Ema Lazic lost to (3) Charlotte Robillard-Millette (CAN) 6-2 6-4
Emily now plays a Spanish girl, ranked 244
Gray and Marcus Walters (who got dumped out of the singles in R1 qualifying) won their doubles, as did Clarke and Borges (POR). Charles Broom + lost his (made the FQR in singles)
Well the top seed may only have dropped 7 games in all her matches to date but today she lost 10 in one day alone. Unfortunately, not enough, of course, as she beat Emily A 7-5 7-5
AND we lost both doubles finals, 4 & 2 in the boys but only by a blinkn' 12-10 in the MTB for the girls :(
