Both girls through to the semifinal with straight set wins. Ali Collins seems maybe the most likely to replicate Katie Swan's success from last year.

Ali won 6-3, 6-3.
Emily lost 6-3, 6-2.

Ali has already played the other finalist, Meyer, in  doubles

Fran and Ali won 6-2, 4-6, 10-6.

At only 14, Ali is starting to look like she might soon be a serious contender for being considered our second best U16.

Ali may well be ranked around inside the top 300 when the new lists come out

Early days for Ali and Fran, of course, but GB is pleasingly seeming to be consistently producing at least a couple of good junior girls prospects in each year

My calculations might very well be off, but I've got her at about 234 if she loses tomorrow, and 221 if she wins, plus the fact that she's down for another grade 4 next week. It's highly likely we'll see her in the top 200 a week from Monday.

Sometime on May 28 th she will undoubtedly become our best under 16! Regularly having under 16s in the top 50 juniors though would be really exciting.

Why will she 'undoubtedly' become our best under 16? End of May is a long way away.

Fran or Donia or Eliz may well have other thoughts smile

(Anyway, I think the ITF does it on calendar year).

But it's certainly good to see the kids do well (however much junior tennis may or may not be a precursor to adult success).

35pts better off with the final to come, so will be around the 230 mark. If she wins climbs into 220's. That will rank her in the top 15 in the world for 2000's.
