So what do we want tomorrow between Raonic and Nadal. A win for Nadal and Andy is guaranteed 4th spot in the rankings or a win for Raonic to help Andy catch Nadal for the No 3 spot but risk dropping to 5 if Raonic goes on to lift the title ?
This will be Andy's 21st ATP Masters 1000 SF ( 3rd at IW where he has never won the title ) and indeed his first Masters SF since he beat Ferrer for the Miami title almost 2 years ago.
It now represents his best ever ranking points start to a year from the first two mandatories ( even putting earlier years onto the current points basis ) at so far 1200 + 360. Add in contributing two wins in GB being through to a Davis Cup QF and not too shabby at all.
SF: (4) Andy Murray WR 4 vs (1) Novak Djokovic (SRB) WR 1
Re the Nadal vs Raonic QF match, since Andy's top 4 seeding is secured for Miami, because of Fed's absence, I would prefer to see Raonic win. At this stage, although I think Raonic is rather underestimated in some quarters, I still see Nadal as the more short to medium term adversary in rankings and as an opponent.
