Set to Borna, 1-6. Tough to watch but he's playing very poorly.

He has won just 3 points against the Coric serve.

Now that's odd. Losing on his second serve, I get. But not returning well? What's going on?

After Rotterdam I wasn't too perturbed. Just a one-off. Right?

Apparently not. Now I'm concerned. Not by just losing a match (although successive QF losses in these sort of tournaments is very disappointing). Not even by the performance, as such. More how he's gone from playing so well, to so, so bad in the space of one day in consecutive tournaments. It's utterly bizarre. What on earth is going on in his head to just fall apart like this? I don't understand how he can go from looking so comfortable one day to suddenly being completely incapable of finding the court the next. Over 55 unforced errors in 17 games. That is just... how?

Something must be off psychologically, surely?

It's gotten to the point now where, Slams aside (where he still seems relatively consistent), he could either thrash his opponent if all is firing, or get annihilated himself if it's not. It's inexplicable. I have no idea what to expect from any of his matches going forward, he's just so volatile.

55 unforced errors. He can go through an entire tournament making fewer than that. I'm baffled.

Looked to me that for a lot of the match Andy was having to generate most of his own pace and as a result seemed to lose his timing, either over or under hitting.

Two decent chances for success and two disappointing QF losses. Ah well, onwards. Let the Davis Cup fill his belly with fire and perhaps he can do some damage in the Masters. And well done to Mr. Coric.

An indefensible performance and an utterly appalling attitude from Andy.

Now, that I absolutely didn't see coming.

I had similar thinking to TMH after Rotterdam. More a one-off in his first tournament after a good Australian Open and he talked about timing issues. So, happens said I, his form seems basically good, onto Dubai and thus I queried some pessimism early in this thread.

As I pointed out also, Andy is actually pretty consistent at getting results against lower ranked players, having not lost to a player outside the top 50 since 2012. Update that to since today!

Coric is clearly a great prospect, but where on earth did today come from with Andy, having shown such form just yesterday ??

Perplexed from Edinburgh ...

Blimey! I didn't see that one coming.

He's supposed to be travelling with his brain expert. He ought to fire him.

I watched the match on Sky Andy was dreadful Coric didn't win the match Andy didn't turn up until the last two games when he was the most aggressive during the match! Andy made 55 erors and had more winners than Coric. Saw Coric play in Edinburgh two years ago aged 16 and yes he is a top prospect. Murray needs Lendl back to sort out his head!

While that is true it obviously isn't going to happen.
