L16: (WC) Beth Askew UNR lost to Tess Sugneaux (SUI) WR 496 (CH 495 earlier this month) by 2-6 6-4 7-6(5)
L16: (Q) Lisa Whybourn UNR beat (3) Tara Moore WR 322 by 6-4 7-6(7)
L16: (Q) Freya Christie WR 1003 lost to (2) Pernilla Mendesova (CZE) WR 292 (CH 288 last Nov) by 7-6(6) 6-4

QF: (Q) Lisa Whybourn UNR v Jesika Maleckova (CZE) WR 453 (= CH)

H2H 1-0 - Lisa won 5 & 4 at Zawada 25K in 2012. Maleckova thrashed 7th seed Pirazhenka 0 & 2 today.

Lisa doubles at 5-5, but saves the set point. Then misses match point. Gets another (if Phil is watching I hope his heart is ok!).

Lisa wins 64 76(7)

Great result for her, but probably says more about where Tara is right now than Lisa.

Well done Lisa. You did call it, paulisi, and it remains a match Tara should not be losing to Lisa at this stage in Lisa's comeback.

Tara's performances here ( on top of others ) very worrying. How fit / unfit is Tara currently ?

Great to have Lisa back though and she can now keep on winning :)

I saw Tara reply to a tweet a few weeks ago saying along the lines of if she's still outside top 250 at the end of the year then she'll retire.

Not a surprise with the funding cuts and everything but it doesn't look to promising at the moment. No idea re her fitness or any other issues but can't remember the last time she actually had a 'good' win.

Not counting her win against Naomi, who also seems to be struggling, her last top 300 win was against her good mate Sirotkina back in March last year.

Had a nice few words with Lisa, and wish her all the best, that shoulder will never be 100%, but I suspect she'll maximise her results and get back up near to her CH.
