Beth was serving at 4-3 up, but got broken.

Tess has held so Beth is now serving to stay in the match.

A big shame that got away from her so quickly in the tiebreak. She tried to claw it back saving three match points but it was too big a gap. Huge effort and she was so, so close.

Sugnaux escaped with that one 26 64 76(5)

Time for Beth to start getting that ranking up, she's shown (albeit only in flashes) that she should be a few hundred spots higher up the rankings

Lost the breaker 7-5, but Beth had chances serving for the match twice.

Definitely believe if she had the finances to play full time, she could easily climb into the top 750

As you say, what a shame!

But surely a really encouraging tournament.

And, yes, do hope she's now playing competitively a bit more than last year and chalks up the wins she deserves.

 She only served for it once, at *6-5. She went from *4-3 to *4-5 down earlier in the set.

Freya was a break up against the 2nd seed when I first looked but she was broken back straight away. She has taken the 1st set to a tiebreak though and leads *4-2 at the changeover ...

5-2* but Mendesová holds twice and gets the mini-break back ... Freya wins the next point though and now has a set point 6-5*
