Does all the hard work to level up at *4-4, then loses three points in a row from 40-30 to be broken.
GSM Mendesova 76(6) 64. Definitely a match that she had chances in. Mendesova is top 300 really because she mopped up various (pretty weak) $10ks last year, so this was always going to be a match within Freya's capabilities. She couldn't quite get there, but it's now time for her to start picking up regular wins and going deep in these tournaments, and getting that ranking up.
Tara broke back but misses numerous break points at 4-3*, so it's *4-4.
I agree PaulM.
Mendesova's record is pretty unimpressive, based almost solely on 10Ks.
Pity that Freya couldn't make it at least into a three-setter.
But, at 17, and with relatively little adult tennis experience, she's showing good signs.
I wonder if she is going to focus on adult tennis this year or still keep cracking on in juniors? I know various people have said that her game is far more suited to adult tennis - as such, maybe she'll just give the rest of juniors a miss?
Tara broke back but then promptly got broken again, leaving Lisa to serve for the match 6-4 *5-4 ... though she has already gone 0-30 down as I write this
