Beth had some excellent wins in the British Tour events towards the end of last year.
And, like Mirabelle, she's another with two (now three) counters that did not come directly from wildcards (yes, she got a wildcard here but then had to win to get the point).
Does anyone know quite what she's doing? She's 19 so - presumably - well out of A level studies/whatever now. But didn't seem to be playing the main tour very much last year. Would be nice (for us) to see her really give it a go. She's very athletic, fit, a fighter, a player you warm to (although maybe not one who stands out from a crowd in any other way).

Beth's an interesting one. When younger she was definitely one of the LTA elite funded player group, even being part of the junior Fed Cup team, and then just disappeared amidst rumours that she had given up. Then turned up and played the U18 Nationals in her final year of eligibility and won the event. Now trains at Northwood with Katy D and Charlotte P. I can't imagine she gets much funding now, if any, as she isn't included on any of the official trips or training camps. Would imagine therefore that finances dictate that her competition takes place mainly in the UK.
Tara sneaks through and will play in the battle of the dodgy shoulders.
I predict Lisa to win that match and hopefully the LTA will give her a WC on the back of it for Glasgow and her third scorer.
We'll see. Tara should really be winning that comfortably at this early stage in Lisa's comeback. But then she should be beating Manisha comfortably since her best is a far superior level.
Hope to see Lisa continus to progress over the coming weeks and months, but like I did for her against Maniisha I'd like to see some real form from Tara and her get a good win.
