Girls: AGL Loy Yang Traralgon Junior International, Australia, hard - Grade 1 (Weeks 2-3)

Traditional warm-up for the Australian Open. Katie Swan has a good draw but Maia Lumsden faces a tough task against a player who beat Katy Dunne and Katie Boulter en route to a $10K title last summer

R1 (L64)

Emily Arbuthnott v Charlotte Robillard-Millette (CAN)

Maia Lumsden v (3) Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov (ESP)

Mayuka Aikawa (JPN) v (12) Katie Swan

Only Katie survived round 1 and she faces a tough second match, albeit against a player she beat in 3 at the Canadian Open

R1 (L64)

Charlotte Robillard-Millette (CAN) d. Emily Arbuthnott 6-1 6-1
(3) Aliona Bolsova Zadoinov (ESP) d. Maia Lumsden 7-5 6-4
(12) Katie Swan d. Mayuka Aikawa (JPN) 6-3 6-2

R2

Katherine Sebov (CAN) v (12) Katie Swan

Good luck to Katie. Decent looking scoreline in defeat for Maia who seems to be progressing well.

Gabbi Taylor withdrew from at least one tournament at the end of last year and has been missing so far this year. Injured ?

Not a great warm-up event for our trio, with Maia and Katie teaming up and losing in doubles as well, just leaving Emily

R2

Katherine Sebov (CAN) d. (12) Katie Swan 3-6 6-3 6-0

Maybe the warmth is the problem, and they are not acclimatised yet.

The girl who beat Katie, Sebov, went on to win the whole tournament (although not with a 'little' luck, getting a walkover against the number 2 seed, and with her opponent retiring in the semis)
