RE: Weeks 3 & 4 - Australian Open (men's)

Andy makes his 15th slam semi-final (W 7 L 7 of the previous 14) and that means he has now made at least one slam semi 8 calendar years in a row!

QF: (6) Andy Murray WR 6 beat Nick Kyrgios (AUS) WR 53 (CH 50 earlier this month) by 6-3 7-6(5) 6-3

SF: (6) Andy Murray WR 6 v (7) Tomas Berdych (CZE) WR 7 (CH 5 in 2013)

H2H 4-6, 3-3 on hard. Berdych won their last two matches, in Cincy & Madrid in 2013

If Andy goes on to win the tournament, something that 2 months ago I would have considered extremely unlikely, I won't be in the least worried what the haters have to say. In any event he probably deserves an Australian Open title on the basis of his performances here over the years.

Haters? What haters? I don't see any. He's getting some very good support at the tournament too.

C'mon, you don't need to go far into various social media outlets to see the 'haters'. But in today's world most figures in the public eye suffer from various degrees of this and it often is totally irrational.

But like RJA I won't remotely care about them if Andy goes on to win the title. It would be rather unexpected at this time ( although my confidence has grown as he has seemed in a very good place, both in form and mind ), and great to see after 3 previous Aussie Open defeats ( and he has previously beaten both Roger and Rafa, albeit in different years, on his way to these finals ).

PS : just thinking, Eddie, that you maybe thought Madeline meant 'haters' on here. I am pretty sure she meant out there on twittersphere etc. So maybe just a misunderstanding ...

Is that so Helen?  I can only see the finals on the schedule.  But I would love it if it's so,  as my 91 year old mother will be able to watch it.  Please could you confirm before I get her excited !!!

Very good match by Andy, really impressed by his serving today and the forehand looked potent. Great to see the backhand down the line too. Berdych will be an interesting matching, especially with Dani is Tomas's camp.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/31000718 The bbc have confirmed Murray v Berdych will be shown on BBC2 in this link glad I booked Thursday off work.

does anyone know when the mens semi-final is on in the uk? am getting very confused with all the time differences, even though I've looked at the Australian website I'm still unsure. It says Friday not before 7.30 pm. is that Saturday morning here. has Andy got 3 days off as well? thought I might have to rearrange things but maybe not.  confused.gif

Very good, especially as I am now aware too that both semi finals aren't on Friday ( I think this is normal and I'd just forgotten ).

So Andy's extra day will come between his semi final and final :)

If it's Friday night in Oz, that would mean Friday morning for us, certainly not Saturday.

However, I was now taking it that the Andy vs Tomas semi final is actually on Thursday with the top half semi final on Friday.

Anyway, I'll shut up and leave it for someone who knows in case I just confuse things further !

doh yes, one semi final is on Thursday night Australian time and the other Friday night Australian time - just checked. so Andy will probably play Thursday night Australian time, Thursday morning here. whoever gets through has the extra day before the final. hope so, as I'm not able to watch Friday morning.
