I am increasingly of the opinion that following Andy's career is taking years off my life. After years of the emotional roller coaster that was Tim Henman's Wimbledon exploits I thought that it was finally safe to watch Tennis without fear of a heart attack. How wrong could I have been.

What is now abundantly clear is that however Andy's career goes, it sure won't be dull. It's going to be a whole lot of fun, and bloody nerve racking as well.

Thanks for the updates guys. Once again a great effort, reading through this thread is almost like watching the livescore.

Either I have got the time difference badly wrong or I misread the OOP.

That doesn't matter now though. A great battling win for Andy, he must try to start quicker but the determination to turn the match arround is important too.

He really does need to look at these slow starts. It's an all too regular occurance and while the ability to fight back is extremely important it's much better not to have to use it.

That was me - I did say "might be" all the same. I'm just glad to be proved wrong. Well done Tim and Andy. (Although they've both got to get through another round to catch up with the mighty Arv still)

Great result - when I saw the 1st set scores I thought that he was knackered and didn't have a chance but the boy doesn't know when he's beaten - which I love although I kinda wish he would think about what he's putting the rest of us through.

The crowd certainly get their monies worth with one of Andy's matches.

I see that Kiefer has withdrawn from the tourny as well so that should Bjorkman or a LL that Andy gets in the 2nd round.

I am very relieved that Murray won. I also agree that he's got to come off the blicks quicker, especially in the next round, which will be tougher.

Folks I have been out all afternoon/evening and managed to avoid any scores, match updates etc. Reading through this thread really is just like watching it live,except the pain doesn't last as long. Thanks.

Another potentially treacherous match won. After winning on Sunday, Andy said the turning point of the week was coming fom a set and a break down against Soderling. Well, lets hope that coming from a set and break down has the same effect, and result, this week.

Wow, what a win! I came back and managed to avoid seeing the score before reading through the thread, thanks to everyone who posted scores and feelings it certainly adds to the excitement, and the lad won!! I love the variety of smilies this result caused as well!! Bring on round 2 I say!

Murray battles to Memphis victory

Murray has now won six matches in a rowAndy Murray showed all his fighting qualities as he recovered from the brink of defeat to see off Rainer Schuettler in Memphis.

The 18-year-old looked set to lose in his first outing since winning the San Jose title as he dropped serve twice in the opening set.

Schuettler served for the match at 5-4 in the second but Murray converted his second break point and took control.

He reeled off nine of the last 11 games for a 1-6 7-5 6-2 victory.

Murray will face Jonas Bjorkman or South African lucky loser Rik de Voest in the second round after second seed Nicolas Kiefer withdrew with sinusitis.

"I have got a lot more confidence after winning against guys like Hewitt and Roddick," said Murray.

"And in the quarters (in San Jose) I came back from a break and a set down against (Robin) Soderling, so I know how to get myself out of tough situations and today that was pretty important.

"Mentally I didn't feel like I was out of the match.

"I had a lot of chances in the second set to break him, I was 30-0 up a couple of times, I had another couple of 30-30 points and obviously my first break point at 5-4.

"I did feel like I was having a lot of chances but I was making a few too many mistakes and at 5-4, when it got to 30-30, that extra confidence that I got from San Jose helped me."
