Marcus been ill with for several weeks . At mine at the moment having some treatment in order to get fit for Wirral but maybe will do doubles only . tonsils like golf balls hoping a potent penicillin will work hope it's not glandular fever ..
Could hardly speak night before . Hope can get to a reasonable state of health by Monday
A fit Marcus would never lose to Evan at this stage of their careers . Proud that Marcus although very ill still went out on court but nothing in his leg'a after first set .
Hope he's OK sherbert. Or, at least, it's not the old problem, just some bug or new little niggle that will be gone soon.
Toby Martin def. Neil P 6-0 retired.
Well done to Toby on the title all the same :)
Thanks Coup Droit. It's the same niggle he had with his back, back in January. I wonder if it's now that he doesn't train full time - the weeks that he is playing tournaments, he's finding playing 2 matches in one day a struggle. Going to try having some sports massages done and if that doesn't work - possibly look at physio. Couple of days rest and then see what happens in Wirral.
Not being funny but any pro sportsman (or even faintly serious sportsman) in France, with a back problem, would have had 20 sessions of physio, instantly, first port of call (after intense anti-inflams to calm it down, if needed). And all covered by state medical insurance i.e. it;s a private physio, you can call and make an appointment for the next day or so, but it's reimbursed.
It's not rocket science, and if you're disciplined about doing all the exercises they give you, you probably don't need 20 sessions but I don't see how you can do it on your own.
NB It's one of the downside's of the BT events - having to play two matches in one day. (Can happen in ITF events of course but it's not common). I'm not in favour. It;s certainly not ideal.
A1 Tennis Academy. Does this mean the Willis / Burton partnership is over? They were showing promise towards the end of last year and nearly won a challenger!
Toby Martin was a real star for A1 Pharmaceuticals Aegon 1 (national tier ) last year & pauffers has rejoined the team after focusing on french club league last year I hope it's not serious we are really pleased that Neil has rejoined the squad and wish him a speedy recovery

Yes indeed partnership showed early promise until inexplicably Lewis went off to Italian challenger with Evo but did not make the cut not the smartest of moves , Marcus loyally stuck by Lewis which was commendable but for me the writing was on the wall .
I think The biggest issue was funding combined with lack of progress in singles saw Lewis hanging around all week for doubles only with poor prize money .
Key for Marcus is finding a partner that has sufficient funding and prize money from singles hoping that could be Luke Bambridge

Hope things get better . . .
I didn't realise that was the system over there. Have looked at private health insurance - but as you can imagine the cost is huge for Neil.
Neil says says he doesn't understand why it's quarters and semis on the same day - why not first and second round? The matches are easier then - and also the ones who are getting less prize money aren't having to stay extra nights for less in return.

Sherbert hope Neil is ok ?
Thanis Gary - we think so. It seems to be the same niggle he had in January. Think it's to do with him not training full time now - his body is finding it hard to transition, especially when it's 2 matches in a day. Hope you are well.
Thanks Gary for bringing some clarity to some of Marcus's recent scheduling.
Hopefully, his health is soon much better to pursue the stated main aim of the season, progession in singles including more challengers in that. Though in the short term, he possibly will be just wanting to win matches and gather ranking points.

Mmm, I think what you mean is "covered by your fellow citizens". I think I prefer our system, thanks.
