Alex Jhun (who arguably should have been playing the Frinton ITF, not the Frinton British Tour event) has made the final, beating James Ling in the semis (James had to retire - hope he's OK- he's a nice, tenacious, tall player who's off to college this autumn).
Alex will play George Davies in the final.
George (who I believe trains and is based out in Spain) beat ATP ranked Scott Duncan in the semi.
As mentioned before, I am keeping my 'beady eye' on Tiran Sanghera, partly because he has a name that sticks out (always makes it easier) but mainly because he's very young, seems to be getting some good results, but has obviously decided to skip junior tennis altogether and just do senior, which shows he's 'outside the box' slightly as regards UK tennis (anyone who knows any different, please put me right)
QF: (1) Marcus Walters def. Suleau
QF: Tiran (age 16) beat (5) Kyle Fellows (he beat third seed, Joe Woolley, in round one)
QF: (4) Jamie Prad. def. Sam Ferguson
QF: (2) Clay Crawford def. (LL) Roskilly
There have been a couple of 'pesky' interlopers these last two weeks (and ATP ranked ones at that !).....but (luckily for us) neither have got that far .....
Last week, Andre Ku Meza (from Peru),WR 2129 CH 1674, lost in the quarters to Calum MacGeoch
This week, the 33 year-old UAE player, Omar AlAwadhi, WR 1868 CH 805, was 2nd seed, but got knocked out in the first round by Josh Goodger.
At the Tour event in Nottingham this week, the final will be:
Luke Stevenson (8) v Dominic Beesley
(losing semi-finalists were Barnaby Thorold and Matt Richmond. In terms of ATP ranked players, Matt beat George Davies, top seed, and Dominic def. Al-Awadhi)
