RE: Will Andy sack Mauresmo?

Fair enough, Madeline, I will allow you to ease back on your fitness regime.

Well, the New York Times credits Andy with being a radical, ground-breaker, trend-setter person who has transformed tennis - and not by his play:

And Berdych has tweeted that Dani will be working with him next year, will be very interesting first time him and Andy play.

I reckon Berdych has picked a good guy there ( whether or not it was time for Andy and Dani to go their separate ways ).

Or will he be the next Miles McClagan, go from player to player without success, and then eventually end up a tennis pundit, hope not.

Well, he hadn't previously moved for quite a number of years.

As the title says, will Andy sack Mauresmo after getting trounced 6-1, 6-0 by Federer or do you expect he will stick by her for a while?

I reckon he needs a change and possibly McEnroe is man to sort him out and certainly sort out his serve.

Other potential contenders are: Paul Annacone; Javier Piles; Jonas Bjorkman; Andre Agassi or Jimmy Connors.

She won't last till the end of 2015 - in my opinion her appointment one of the most strange decisions in Gb tennis you really do wonder about the thought processes of many of our  GB tennis players the lack of education certainly takes its toll on occasions

But women have played a very strong, positive influence in his life. Well, his mum anyway. I liken his maternal relationship to that of Jimmy Connors and his mother, Gloria, who constantly rooted for him courtside to the obvious dislike of nearly everyone else. Connors and Murray both share a certain stubborn quality and that might just motivate Murray to make his relationship with Mauresmo work out. This is all pure speculation of course.

Quite possibly one of the most mind-boggling posts that I've seen you make, A1.

I disagree, BeefyDeedz. Without focussing on any individuals, let's just say that there are many talented sports people who are not the sharpest tools in the box, and that can be unhelpful.

Mr Murray has never come across as unusually (or even remotely) dim. Stubborn, yes. But not dim. Why not give it all a year and see? A lot of people (including many on this board) were skeptical of the Lendl hire for several months, too. Proof, pudding, and all that.

I was always positive about Mr Lendl, despite the unbelievers. However I don't feel the same about Amelie. I hope my gut is wrong...

I agree with this.  Like Helen40 I was all in favour of Lendl ( and made my opinion well known on this board!) but that could have been partly at least because he was my favourite player for years. I don't have the same feeling about Amelie either, but Andy has shown good sense in his picks in the past and I think we have to let him get on with it and see how it goes. She can hardly have had a fair trial so far, if, as it appears, Dani and Jez Green were causing problems because they didn't like her methods. She must have been struggling against the atmosphere ever since she joined the team. At least six more months is needed to see how it goes, I feel.

Incidentally, I can't help wondering if this situation was the cause of that strange "5 (or possibly 45, accounts vary) minutes before the ******* match!" just before playing Dimitrov. . .

Just to clarify my own previous post, I was indeed thinking very generally about sports people ( a thought I quite often have ) and at least I could see what Gary was getting at, arguable as it may be. I have been much more mind-boggled by some of his other posts :)
