RE: Week 44 - Challenger ($50,000) - Charlottesville VA, USA (Hard)

Really wish Mike C would stop moaning about Smyczek being poor, Liam really isn't letting him have his own way like he did last time

Certainly the best I've seen him play. Love the top spin.

Liam was robbed by some of these calls and it has rattled him. Real shame - in trouble here.

Lost his head at the changeover, quite rightly. Real shame

Some pretty shocking calls against him though

There was only call where he was 'robbed', I think. And it was the first point of the game. The others I think were correct.

He should have broken in the previous game, though. He had all the pressure.

Liam recovers the break *3-3

Standard of play seems to have dropped 4-3*

As a player myself, let me tell you it's hard to get over even in the first point

Much to my amazement he's broken back thanks to a framed backhand winner. All count!

I know which call you are referring to, but there has been a couple of strange ones.

Still he is returning well - didnt expect that immediate break back.

Ok 4-3* - thankfully the umpire over-ruling another dodgy call on Liams baseline!

Not saying its a home advantage...but you have to wonder. In truth Liam has looked comfortably the better player since losing the first, but it will be a test of his mental strength to see if he keeps it up towards the business end of the 3rd.

0-30 to Liam but swiftly pegged back.

He has been caught out a few times trying to rush the net from a poor position - need some patience.

And Liam breaks! *5-3 serving for the match.

Smyczek definitely below par but impressive fight so far from Liam

Breaking at just the right time. Come on now Liam, time to hold and clinch this.
