RE: Week 44 - Challenger ($50,000) - Charlottesville VA, USA (Hard)

Just by the by, Torbeko lost this time last week in round one at Manchester, to the German qualifier who, this week, was thrashed by Andy Bettles who, in turn, lost to Mark Whitehouse today.

Today Torbeko has just won the first round of the Challenger in Charlottesville.

Does that mean that Mark Whitehouse should be in the quarter finals of Challengers ????

Now would be a nice time for another break. 0-30.

Big forehand wins it after Smyczek rather helped Liam out with some horrible serving and poor forehands

Thoroughly deserved !

Well done, that man . ..

And with the young French guy having put out the top seed too, that's the two top seeds gone . . .

Well that was a startling, but great, celebratory scream. Well done Liam!

Well done Liam!! Great result when you consider the pounding he took from Smyczek only the other week.

Not bad eh!!

The young man is flying at the moment, and improving by the week, great to see.

Super Well Done Liam!! biggrin

Stayed strong when he wasn't playing so well early and when it looked like his emotions might get the better of him. Good to see.

And so Liam now gets Torbeko who following a 'chain of matches' argument (see above) sort of got beaten by Mark Whitehouse . . .

Got to have a good chance (to say the least).

Torbeko just beat Kozlov though, and would appear to like playing the young guns, having beat Kyle in Newcastle, so will be tough.

Well that was worth staying up for, even though it is only 9pm here LOL. Shame my internet connection is too slow for a decent livestream although I was able to see some of the match.

But what a great result. Liam is the hottest thing in GB tennis at the moment - behind Muzza of course. He is gunning for Ed C's number 3 spot in the GB rankings.

I saw Torbeko on Friday hanging around with a young lady friend at Sport city.

When he played at Wirral, he wasn't very good. He wasn't very good at Manchester by all accounts. If Liam plays to a reasonable standard he should win.
