RE: Week 43 - ATP World Tour 500 - Valencia, Spain - Hard (AM)

Sadly this is all too predictable. He's developed this innate ability to go from playing well to utterly woeful in the space of one game.

He's shown better resolve lately in turning the momentum back around, but memories of their Shanghai match are still firmly in mind.

He looks absolutely shattered, to be honest, and one of the commentators said he had complained he had a stitch ( I didn't hear what he shouted to his box but it seems likely)

A straightforward hold, thank goodness.

Murray breaks in the vital 11th game and will now serve for the match.

C'mon man, keep it together now.

This is agony. I can't watch. although mainly that is because it's not on TV here. But even if it was, I wouldn't be able to watch.

Come on Andy.

He does it!!!! (though I have to admit "safely" doesn't quite apply)

Never mind. Another final. I don't much care if he wins tomorrow ( though it would be nice). He has kept Ferrer behind him in the race.

I haven't been able to watch any of Andy's exploits over the last few weeks, but whatever the standard of play, he certainly seems to have the fire back in his belly. This battle for the WTF seems to have been just what he needed psychologically to fire himself up.

Great win. It's not mathematically certain that Andy will make the WTFs yet, but it would take an awful lot of upsets by other players in Paris to deny him his place now.

Especially as he only needs to be 9th, now Nadal is out.
