Jack MacFarlane looks for another title here, whilst Georgie Axon has taken over top seed from the unfortunate Holly Hutchinson, who has had to return to London on crutches (ankle)
Pleased to see Jack MacF doing so well. Although a junior who's competed really regularly from a very young age, he's not really stood out until the last 18 months or so when he started to develop a much more attacking style of play and some real big shots to go with it. He's still at that tall, skinny and gangly stage but I think he could be one to watch as he develops (hopefully) a more adult physique.
The LTA has always seemed to me to be such a closed shop with juniors (see Naomi C's comment in her interview about not being a chosen one) that I'm always pleased when someone unfancied gatecrashes the party.
11 wins in a row here for Jack, the last 8 being in straights. He beat his final opponent comfortably last week, so let's hope for a repeat. First final of the year for Georgie, with retirement from the doubles hopefully being precautionary.
