At the end of each year Tennis Europe runs a Masters event for the top 8 under 14 and under 16s prepared to take part. Four years ago Josh Sapwell won the under 14s and this year it is Jake Hersey's chance to emulate him. He has a tough draw though against German Nicola Kuhn, who beat him in Les Petits As. The two top German boys (Rudolf Molleker being the other, not present here) combined to win all the major trophies this year (Winter Cup, Summer Cup, Junior championship singles and capped it all with the World Junior title in August).

Although Barcelona based Francesca Jones just missed out originally on a place in the Under 14 girls, she claimed a late place as an alternate, and won impressively in the quarter-finals before losing today to the runaway TE top ranked girl. Jake won his second match (against Palosi of Roumania), so plays off for 5th-6th, while Kuhn has reached the final.
