Almost every game was close though, and Jodi actualy had BP in more games than did her opponent - whose clustered in a few games.

All in all, not a bad week at all for a first outing.

I'm very impressed that Jodie pushed her so close. Having seen Jodie before I think she has the right attitude to step up to big matches and a big game to boot.

Definitely one to follow.

I also think she has the right balance between schooling and competition as she doesn't play the junior circuit that much apart from school holidays.

Katy fails to hold serve in the opening set 2-6

Starts the 2nd set with a comfortable hold to 15 1-0*

Easy hold to love including her first ace 2-1*

Holds to 15 3-2*

Broken to 30, first bp either player had faced in this set 3-4*

Breaks back, wasn't paying attention but stats suggest on her 3rd bp, that's if I remembered correctly *4-4

Holds to 15 5-4*

Holds to 30 6-5*

Katy gets set point and takes it 7-5

Good battle to pinch that set.

I didn't realise that Katy is soon to be GB no.4.(Laura and Sam set to drop below and Tara has loads of points to defend and is not playing that well)

Katy's body may get injured, but her fight never does.

Takes the second set 7-5.
Stats would seem to suggest she's started serving better too - she was losing 50%+ of all service points even 3/4 of the way through set 2.

Liebens has made a CH ranking of 359 whilst only ever beating two players in the top 300, and those were just inside at 284 & 296.
To my mind that suggests a winnable match for a Ms. Dunne on normal form.

To me, that suggests a match that I would expect Katie to win, considering her form of recent months and very encouraging reappearance yesterday. It surprised me that it was suggested as a 50 / 50 match, albeit it has more turned out that way

I had it as a 50/50 match for several reasons - Katy's longish absence, her H2H record and her ranking are similar.

Katy is a break down in the final set. Keep fighting Katy.

It's weird how often its not the 1st match after a long layoff that causes the problem, but the 2nd.
