RE: Week 36 - ITF ($25K) - Barnstaple, UK Hard

Manisha got thrashed 1 & 0 by Dodin

I know we couldn't realistically hope for a lot of winners today, but most of the scorelines have been worse than I expected

And there was me thinking that Aimee and Natasha had put up a pretty good show smile

No getting round that Tara's seems a real horror though . ..  .

True, they did I was thinking more of the matches since, the ones where we had semi-realistic hopes of GB wins.

Lauren loses 6-3 7-5 which is a decent effort - :) - but unfortunately 'decent efforts' don't buy the breakfast cornflakes . . .

Continued encouragement, certainly not making a proper Charlie of herself.

C'mon, Charlotte !

Charlotte, obviously distracted by someone shouting 'C'mon Charlotte! from the sidelines at a critical juncture, loses the first set 5-7

Her twitter name is iCharliePearce, so maybe she prefers to be called Charlie.

Yes, I think she does.

iCharlottePearce would also be 1 character too long for a Twitter name.

Currently 5-7 *2-5

Not sure that's right. Think she's a Charlotte.

Charlie gives a decent showing (on paper) but the gulf in rankings told 5-7 4-6

So, 2 through, 1 more than was guaranteed, and what a one!

Quite a mixed bag amongst the losses veering from encouragement to borderline despair.

Tara's day gets worse - won the first set, well up in the MTB, but still ended up losing the doubles too:

Naomi C & Fran def. Tara & Harriet 4-6 7-6(2) 11-9

Tara is having a mare of a season, about to be re-located from the NTC and I suspect will lose some or all of her funding.

Nice to see so many younger players picking up ranking points - but in reality they should be playing 10Ks and not 25ks where they will be more competitive.

Jodie's run will end tomorrow. Katy is a 50/50 match, Liebens is solid, but nothing special.

After her 1 and 3 thrashing by Gabbi in Wimbledon qualies and now this, Arvidsson must be wondering where all these talented young Brits have come from!
