Aimee wins the last qualifying spot, 6-4 in the third.
SO that's 2 points and 2 counters for Aimee, her first WTA ranking for Charlie, her first ever point for Jodie, the first point for 12 months for Lauren and Natasha and one for Lucy.
Amazing win for Jodie in her first ever ITF Pro Circuit event!
Good for Charlie too - it's rare for a Brit to get 3 counters in such a short space of time without any of them coming from a WC R1 loss in an ITF or a QWC QR1 loss in a main tour event! Perhaps even more surprising given that she's Mel South's cousin and that kind of link might be expected to generate more rather than fewer WCs, if anything.
Anyway, 6 qualifiers is excellent when only 4 were seeded to qualify - in fact, only 1 of the 4 Brits seeded to qualify actually made it, though I did think the other 3 would probably go out to the players they lost to when I saw the draw.

I did call Jodie to win a set, but to win the match is an outstanding result.
I watched Jodie last year at a grade 5 at Wavertree, just after the Manchester 10K and I was impressed and I even told Jodie's grandmother that she was playing at the same level as some of the girls on the tour.
As for the main draw, Katy has not played for a while, so not expecting to much.
Tara should win, Charlotte may cause the biggest upset and I expect Jodie to win again. Naomi will be a test of where she is at, hopefully she will be competitive, but Indy is a decent player. Harriet on her day could cause an upset. None of the others will win.
