Injuries and Illness - and good luck wishes

I was very surprised to see former Wimbledon semi-finalist Pironkova in the US Open draw. Back after 3 years out.

And yes, best wishes to CSN - a favorite of her fellow players and fans. Great person, lovely to watch.

Just saw that Julia Goerges has retired. Quite surprised, it was in the pipeline but she had originally decided to delay it a year due to COVID, but must have had a change of heart.

Best wishes for recovery to Sabine Lisicki, who suffered a torn ACL in her doubles in Linz, partnering Jodie Burrage. Already had surgery.

Just found this on the BBC website and thought you might all like a good news story. Not sure if this has already been discussed while I've been away.

Basically Carla Suarez Navarro has recovered from cancer and will make a comeback at the French Open.

As I am sure many of you will have already seen, Roger Federer is to have further knee surgery and will be out for "many months".

Whatever Fed says now , hard to see him coming back, personally. A swag song at Wimbledon next year seems possible if he plays again.

Not a player, but wasn't sure where to post this. Been very difficult times for EWS and her family, hope both mum and dad are on the mend. At least we know where she gets her resilience from.

Sounds like EWS's recent problems have been due to a rib problem (which is not a typical tennis injury!).

Italian tennis player, Erik Crepaldi, currently has a serious head trauma after suffering a brutal car crash in Italy.

Best wishes to him.

On his elbow.
