Never been a 'little fave' but just to send best wishes to Millie Bissett - having been the LTA's top star, it's now been ages since she's played, so I'm assuming it's horrible ongoing injury problems....

Do hope she's on the road to recovery.

Similarly, after years of awful injury issues, Ryan Storrie made an all too brief revisit to the pro scene and then withdrew from subsequent events - can only assume that it's all flared up again... still got fingers crossed that it can get all sorted out....but must be so upsetting when these things come back again

Sending good wishes to Tanysha Dissanayake who has been bedbound with long covid for 9 months.

Also to Maia Lumsden who has been seen on a tennis court recently so might to be getting better

Oh, what a shame ! (Re Tanysha)

Thanks for the info, DF.

I've always liked Tanysha, and her tennis - and (from a very brief chat) her cricket-loving little brother

Ash Barty is retiring from tennis. Assuming she does what Jo did, and asks to be immediately pulled from the rankings, IGA will be no 1, unless someone can catch her.

Big shock news - she will be a success whatever she does. As Halep said, grand slam golf next ?!

Losing two sporting icons from Australia , Ash and Dylan Alcott, in quick succession is a big blow to Aussie fans, no doubt. Big shoes to fill.

Yes a huge shock. I saw the news about 3am when I couldn't sleep. Had to read it several times before I'd believe it.
Such a loss for tennis. A great player and role model.
All the very best to Ash for whatever the future holds.

Such a shame, she was exactly what the WTA needed. A legitimate #1 who consistently performed. But good luck to her with whatever future endeavors she pursues. And, well done her for doing what she feels is right for her personally.

I feel as though she'll have children over the coming years and try a return in her late 20s.... where do I place my bets?

All the best to Ash in whatever she chooses to do in the future.

I was never a great fan of her tennis ( partly through an ongoing feeling that she didn't seem a great fan herself ) but she was indeed certainly a very legitimate WR 1 displaying the consistency of performance so many others lack. And all other things being equal I think it is good to have at least one or two very consistent top players to be focal points and targets for the others. It gives the tour more of a narrative.

Some sad news this morning. Kristijan Schneider, coach to Borna Coric and Ana Konjuh, has died of cancer at the age of 41. Sometimes, life just isn't fair.
