RE: Week 32 - ATP Masters 1000 - Toronto, Canada - Hard

Kyrgios played some decent tennis yesterday but he largely got away with Giraldo tanking for some reason. Giraldo is a solid player with a great return of serve and that all disappeared. I would hope that if Andy is anyway improved from his Wimbledon QF performance, that won't be a factor for Kyrgios to bank on.

Andy takes the first set 6-2. Kyrgios looks as though he is panicking and over-hitting. Racquet-smash was efficient

Well done Andy 6-2 6-2. Talent + experience too much for talent + inexperience.

Classy touch from Andy in his exchange from Kyrgios, also. Good win, 4 more to go!:)

That seems to have gone much smoother than I was expecting.

L32: (8) Andy Murray WR 9 beat (WC) Nick Kyrgios (AUS) WR 70 (CH 65 last month) by 2 & 2

L16: (8) Andy Murray WR 9 v (12) Richard Gasquet (FRA) WR 13 (CH 7 in 2007)

H2H 5-3 but 1-2 on hard, including their very first meeting which was here in Toronto in 2006 (Gasquet won 2 & 5 in the SFs), but Andy won on hard the last time they met, in the Miami SFs last year.

That was good, now to back it up with a similar level of performance.

Andy gets a walkover against Gasquet and it looks like Nole is going out.

Gasquet has withdrawn due to a groin injury.

Beaten to it

Dammit, I rearranged my day to watch Andy play Dammit! Did the ironing in the heat of the day to leave the evening free

And Tsonga in the quarters. Nole give a very good impression of tanking that match for some reason - he just didn't seem to care at all.
