Joss and Anna's draw looked good until I saw their 2nd round matchup, if I remember correctly the second seeds aren't that strong, in fact the combined rankings of the 2nd seeds on lower are well in xs of 100.
Well, if they get that far, I don't think that playing Black/Mirza is a bad thing. When you are just starting out and have to play two of the greatest doubles players on the Tour, you don't really have much to lose. And it's good to get a sense of what they're like. A pair of first-round wins, at the least, would be a lovely thing.

From the few snippets seems to have been a combination of Tornado playing well and Em struggling in the heat. Given Tornado is one of the best players in the world, Emily is exactly the sort of player she should be comfortably disposing off if she is planning on making a move, so whilst it would have been nice for a fairytale run I don't think there can be any complaints.
Will be interesting to see if the Brits can take advantage of the doubles draws this week.
It's beginning to look like my estimate for Hev's BST start time may be about right after all, even though I placed her in Vancouver which is 3 hours behind! Berrer v Sock started at about 23.15 BST and there is still Paire v Karlovic to come after that before Hev gets on court.
In other words, it seems unlikely that she'll get on before about 02.30 BST.
